Job Description
Cradlefin Consultants are recruiting for highly motivted and experienced Consultants in Geriatrics Medicine. The ideal candidate will be supporting inpatient services and fraility virtual ward, contributing to the delivery of first class geriatrics care by providing daily consultant delivered care, leading and supporting multi-disciplinary teams with complex discharge planning . We are seeking an enthusiastic geriatrician to expand and support the development of the department and someone with an interest in acute care of the elderly and frailty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with his/her colleagues and be responsible for providing a high quality service for the older patients attending the Hospital, and for development of services appropriate to these ends
- Participate with his/her colleagues in the training and professional development of medical and other professional staff for whom he/she is responsible. He/she will also be involved in the post-graduate and under-graduate teaching programme and General Practitioner education
- Be expected to continue his/her own professional development in line with guidance from the relevant professional bodies and within the framework of clinical governance and revalidation
- Be expected to work with the other Medical Consultants to ensure the Trust meets the various National waiting time standard
- Specialist multidisciplinary care on our wards for older people.
- Comprehensive orthogeriatric service
- An Emergency Department Frailty Service
- OPRAC/SDEC outpatient clinics
- Surgical liaison service
Qualifications:
- MRCP
- Experience in the management of older people
Desirable
- MD, PhD or equivalent
Knowledge & Expertise:
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCST in General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients.
- IT skills and computer literacy
