Job Description

Cradlefin Consultants are recruiting experienced and highly motivated Consultant Doctors in Gastroenterology. This is an opportunity to join a busy, dynamic multidisciplinary team to help us improve the service that we provide to our population. There are several opportunities for developing a subspecialty interest, such as advanced endoscopy, IBD and nutrition.

Main duties:

  • Be involved in the provision of designated lists per week (both inpatient and outpatient, emergency, and non-emergency
  • You will have the opportunity to develop your interest and training needs outside of these sessions, in any of the sub specialties listed below
  • Advanced Endoscopy (ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, upper GI therapeutic endoscopy, complex polypectomy, Video Capsule Endoscopy) Clinical Nutrition & Intestinal Failure. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (complex tertiary IBD, adolescent IBD and clinical trials) GI physiology
  • The successful candidate will have a broad experience in the management of both Gastroenterology inpatients and Gastroenterology outpatients. He or she needs to be fully competent in all aspects of upper and lower GI endoscopy as well as management of GI bleeding
  • There will be on call commitments for the GI bleed rota and weekend ward cover, but no GIM on-calls. Full registration with the GMC is essential
  • Endoscopy (inpatient and outpatient) Service lists are at 12 points with training lists at 10
  • Ward based Gastroenterology inpatient care
  • Gastroenterology outpatient clinic service
  • Contribute to a 1:14 on call GI bleed rota
  • Active participation in clinical governance and departmental meetings
  • Educational and clinical supervision of junior staff
  • Active participation in teaching and training of juniors

Requirements:

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • CCT in Gastroenterology/attainment of CCT via ‘European Community Rights’
  • Full registration with GMC
  • Higher research degree – MD Res / MD
  • Experience of managing postgraduate training

An interest in education would be essential to provide training to our trainees and also contribute to our JAG training courses as faculty member, if the successful applicant wishes to. Our client undertakes a number of procedures including Diagnostic and therapeutic OGD and Colonoscopy, EMR, ESD, Colonic Stenting, ERCP, EUS (radial and linear), Capsule Endoscopy (small bowel, colon, panenteric), Oesophageal pH and manometry studies and both sites are JAG accredited.
