Job Description

Cradlefin Consultants are recruiting for a Director of Education and Professional Development who will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning journey of members and non-members, contributing significantly to the organisation’s overall growth. The strategic focus on career development in medical physics and clinical engineering, as well as the oversight of registration, chartering, certification, and continuous professional development (CPD), positions this role at the forefront of advancing professional standards in the field.

The organisation’s commitment to investing in staffing and a new Learning Management System signals a forward-looking approach, with the aim of doubling the surplus generated by the training calendar by 2028. This focus on growth aligns with the Director’s responsibilities to actively explore and develop new training and education products, ensuring our client remains a global standard-bearer for quality through its accreditation work.

This role is offered as an initial 18 month contract.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Establish and lead IPEM’s “Future Skills Leadership Commission”, working with volunteers and IPEM’s Professional Knowledge manager (2024)
  • Develop training for medical physicists and clinical engineers and seeking to expand our customer base, including existing and new training products
  • Develop education and qualification offering for medical physicists and clinical engineers, exploring new routes and means of learning and serving new markets
  • Ensure the company maintains its Science Council & Engineering Council Licenses and that the Register of Clinical Technologists maintains its Professional Standards Authority accreditation
  • Advise the Board of Trustees on the strategic aspects of Professional Development work, and on external relationships, to ensure that the company is effectively positioned and developed to deliver on its objectives
  • Ensure that staff are motivated and have a clear understanding of their roles, objectives and expectations,
    can access development as needed
  • Support the investigation of complaints relating to services provided by the Institution, where relevant
  • With SLT colleagues, provide leadership during times of change and development within the organisation
  • Develop KPI’s using analytical skills and performance information to enable the management and review
    of Professional Development services
  • Support the Chief Executive in ensuring organisation’s governance and compliance responsibilities are
    effectively discharged
  • Convene and coordinate relevant committees and working groups, including the Professional and
    Standards Council
  • Maintain effective relationships with key service suppliers

Highlighted Essential Skills:

  • Experience in leading professional learning initiatives, possibly gained in working for a charity or professional body
  • Experience as a director or equivalent level in senior management, including the management and development of teams
  • Good knowledge of emerging trends in pedagogy, professional development and CPD
  • Experience of digital learning technologies and online learning platforms
  • Experience of managing assessment services
