Job Description

Cradlefin Consultants are recruiting for Consultant Haematologists interested in joining NHS hospitals across United Kingdom. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive team to enrich your expertise in providing services for both Haemato-Oncology as well as general & laboratory Haematology.

Main duties:

  • To provide a Consultant Haematology service for inpatient and outpatient services and for the proper functioning of the department.
  • It is anticipated that the post holder will have continuous responsibility for laboratory quality assurance and compliance with hospital transfusion policies and development of such policies where necessary.
  • To carry out teaching duties as required and, in particular, to take an active part in the education programme of trainee medical staff and medical undergraduate students from the Sheffield University. Responsibility for educational and clinical supervisor activities for Core Trainee and SpR in Haematology is shared between the three post holders.
  • The post holder will have full continuing clinical responsibility for patients under his or/her care, and for the provision of treatment relevant to their haematological condition whilst in hospital. This may require the provision of advice and assistance to Consultants in other specialties, and the proper delegation to and training of junior medical staff.
  • You will be required to hold specialist accreditation (or working towards) in Haematology and maintain their GMC registration and revalidation as per GMC’s Good Medical Practice.
  • You will contribute to all aspects of the general haematology and haemo-oncology work including active participation in all departmental meetings and the on-call rota (2 APAs)
  • As well as developing you within your career, our department is actively involved in teaching, and you would also be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Person Specification:

  • Full GMC and specialist registration with licence to practice (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • MRCP and FRCPath or equivalent
  • Appropriate experience and clinical expertise in laboratory and clinical haematology
